Personal Care includes assistance with activities such as bathing, dressing or eating.

Homemaker
Homemaker services includes assistance with general household activities needed to maintain a healthy and safe living environment, such as housekeeping, meal preparation and laundry.

Health Maintanence
Homemaker activities includes assistance with skilled health-related activities that are typically provided by a certified or licensed attendant, such as a CNA, LPN or RN. In IHSS, the Nurse Practice Act has been waived so that members have the flexibility to hire and train staff without certifications or licensure.

What is IHSS?
In-Home Support Services (IHSS) is a Medicaid-funded program that allows family members or trusted individuals to provide personal care, health maintenance, and homemaker services to a loved one with a disability or chronic condition. IHSS empowers families by giving them the flexibility to choose their caregivers, ensuring their child receives care from someone they trust in a familiar environment.
Who Qualifies for IHSS?
To qualify for IHSS, an individual must:

Be enrolled in Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program)

Have a medical or functional need for personal care, health maintenance, or homemaker services

Require an IHSS-approved level of care determined by a physician and case manager

Live in a home setting (not a nursing facility or group home)
IHSS is designed to support children and adults with disabilities who require assistance with daily activities to promote independence and well-being.
